Hocking River String Band
One could label the Hocking River String Band as bluegrass due to their standard song structures and break formats. One could also correctly assume that many of the band members have rock and roll roots. However to define them as anything other than a “Great Live Band” would be simultaneously painting them into a corner and selling them short. Comet Bluegrass All-Stars
The Comet Bluegrass All-Stars were assembled in 1996 as the Sunday night house band at The Comet, a neighborhood pub in Northside, Cincinnati. Since that time the popularity of the band has grown beyond the lounge at The Comet, opening for such national acts as Sam Bush, Blue Highway, Del McCoury, Peter Rowan, and Ricky Skaggs. Learn more.
Hickory Robot hail from the fertile acoustic soil of Cincinnati, Ohio. The original trio of guitarist Jim Pelz, mandolinist Scott Carnder, and fiddler Lauren Schloemer came together in 2008 and by 2010 had released an album of critically-praised originals entitled “Firefly.” In 2011 bassist Mike Georgin completed the quartet and a year of constant gigging resulted in a large regional following and a Cincinnati Entertainment Award nomination for Best Bluegrass Band.
